FAQ's

How often should I have my carpets & upholstery cleaned ?

The leading Carpet & Upholstery manufacturers such as Axminster, Wilton, and G-Plan recommend having your carpets & upholstery  professionally cleaned annually

I’m thinking of cleaning my own carpets or upholstery, is this a good idea ?

We would advise you to hire a professionally trained technician to carry out the cleaning as this will ensure the correct method and products are used. There are lots of products available to the public which are designed to enable you to clean your own carpets and soft furnishings, but please be careful because along with these products also comes the risk of causing irreversible damage. We have received intensive training and been taught the safe and correct way to professionally clean all different types of Carpets and Upholstery. Some products can bleach or watermark fibres and fabrics if they are not dried or neutralised correctly. We are frequently called in to try and rectify damage caused by customers who have attempted to clean their own carpets or upholstery using products such as 1001 or vanish

What are the different methods for cleaning carpets & upholstery and which one is best ?

There are several different methods we use to clean Carpets & Upholstery and each method is designed for the particular type of fibre or fabric being cleaned along with the levels of soiling. Some methods use more water than others, we may use hot water, an encapsulating solution or a solvent to remove stains and soiling from your carpets and upholstery

Will my carpets or upholstery re-soil quicker after I have them professionally cleaned ?

This is a common question we get asked; the answer to this question is no they will not re-soil any quicker providing the cleaning is done correctly. With our cleaning process your carpets or upholstery will last just as long between cleans as they did when they were first purchased from new.

This fear of rapid re-soiling has been caused by unskilled, cleaning technicians who fail to remove all the  detergent residue from the fibres or fabric. Any sticky residue left behind on the fibres or fabric will act like a magnet to soil and cause rapid re-soiling.

The products we use have been specially formulated to ensure that no residue gets left behind.

Will my Children or Pets be affected by the cleaning process or the chemicals you use ?

Health and safety is of paramount importance to us and the majority of our cleaning products are made from natural, plant based ingredients. Our products are kind to the environment and safe to be used around children and pets. It is however recommended that children stay out of the area while we carry out the cleaning to prevent any slip or trip hazards

How long will my carpet or upholstery take to dry ?

We aim to get your carpets or upholstery as dry as possible before we leave. The overall time it takes for your carpets or upholstery to dry will depend upon numerous factors such as how much solution we had to use during the clean (the heavier the soiling, the more solution we will need to use), the type of fibres or fabric being cleaned, room temperature and amount of ventilation will also affect the drying time. In most cases your carpets or upholstery will be ready to used within 1-2 hours, but some heavily soiled carpets and upholstery will take slightly longer to dry. It may take 6-12 hours before you carpets or upholstery are completely dry, especially if they contain a high natural fibre content

Is there any risk of shrinkage ?

It is rare for carpets or upholstery fabric to shrink due to the result of professional cleaning and luckily this has never happened to any of our technicians before.

Some fibres and fabrics are sensitive to water and can be prone to shrinkage, but proving the correct cleaning method is used then there really is nothing for you to worry about. We always carry out an inspection prior to commencing the cleaning process. If we feel there may be any risk of shrinkage then we will let you know and recommend a low moisture or dry cleaning method instead

Will you be able to remove all the stains ?

Unfortunately we can’t guarantee all stains can be removed as some stains which have dried and set may well have dyed the fibres and become permanent. If a stain has set and become permanent then no amount of cleaning will be able to remove it. The only way to remove a permanent stain would be to use a bleaching agent and then dye the fibres back to their original colour. We are can provide you with advice on this, but unfortunately we don’t carry out this type of restoration work ourselves

Do I have to move the furniture before you arrive to do the cleaning ?

In most cases our cleaning technicians will be happy to move your furniture, unless they feel the item is too heavy to move without risk of injuring themselves. There may also be some valuable items of furniture which our cleaning technician would prefer be moved by the owner. If there are any items of furniture which we feel may be a problem to move then this will be pointed out to you during the pre clean inspection. We do ask that you kindly remove any ornaments from any items of furniture that you would like us to move
